Belly dancer exotic hairstyles

Belly dancing hairstyles depend on different factors. But it is important to try a style long before the event to be sure it works with your face shape, complexion, and hair distinctiveness. For the standard and timeless beauty who nods her head at vintage pin ups, era gamine style may be right up the alley.

Timeless designs such as pin curls and finger waves add a dimension and design to these original homecoming up dos. When paired with wrap dresses, tiered minis or lace case, the vintage gamine style is stylish and spectacularly feminine.

Bouffant Hairstyle of 60s

The author writes:
This is my take on the very classic 1960's hairstyle, often seen on old Hollywood celebs like Mary Tyler Moore from the "Dick Van Dyke Show". There are many ways to create the "Bouffant" (hair piled high on the head and hanging down on the sides), but this is the simple old-fashioned way!

Big hair hairstyle - 60's beehive hairstyle

50s and 60's beehive hairstyle
It originated in the USA in 1958 as one of a variety of elaborately teased and lacquered versions of "big hair" that developed from earlier pageboy and bouffant styles. The beehive style was highly popular throughout the 1960s, particularly in the United States and other Western countries, and remains an enduring symbol of 1960s kitsch.

Blowout hairstyle

The Blowout, also called:
"Temp",
"The Brooklyn Poser",
"Tape Up"
Shape-up with hair longer, spiky. Example: Gotti Boys
The hair is faded from skin to 1 cm (1/2 inch) in length from the edge of the hairline up 2 cm (1 inch). The rest of the hair is left the same length, usually 2-5 cm (1-2 inches), depending on the preference of the client.

The style is generally defined by hair that is spiked up in chunks using large amounts of heavy products such as hair gel or mousse.

Bob cut - 20s hairstyle

A classic short hairstyle where the ends are cut just around chin length and aligned close to the facial area. A bowl can also be placed on the top of the head and the remaining part of the head can be shaved very short. This style is most common among women.
A Bob hair cut preformed freehand with clippers.

Made internationally popular by American film star Colleen Moore in the early 1920s, it was then seen as a somewhat shocking statement of independence in young women, as older people were used to seeing girls wearing long dresses and heavy Edwardian-style hair. Hairdressers, whose training was mainly in arranging and curling long hair, were slow to realise that short styles for women had arrived to stay, and so barbers in many cities found lines of women waiting outside their shops, waiting to be shorn of hair that had taken many years to grow.

Bun Hairstyle

Hair Styling Techniques for Women
Bun Hairstyle typically worn by women, where the hair is pulled back from the face, twisted or plaited, and wrapped in a circular coil around itself, typically on the back of the head or neck. They can either be secured with a hairpiece, a hairnet and bobby pins.

They may be tightly gathered or slightly messier and more informal. Buns, like ponytails, may cause headaches if worn too tight or up too high on the head.

Classic French Braid tutorial

French Braid tutorial
Unlike a regular three-strand braid, a French braid starts with small sections of hair at the crown of a person's head, and intermittently, more hair is added to each section as the braid progresses down the head.

The classic French braid is a single braid at the back of one's head. The French Braid gets its name because it was invented by a French hairstylist.

Pixie Hair Cut tutorial - 20s hairstyles

A short layered women's hairstyle with a shaggy fringe.
A pixie cut refers to a short woman's hairstyle generally short on the back and sides of the head and slightly longer on the top. Women began exploring shorter hairstyles in the 1920s.

It has since been a rollercoaster trend and has been reappearing and disappearing frequently throughout the years. In the past year the pixie cut has been brought back into the spotlight, being worn by world famous stars and models such as Alyssa Milano, Keira Knightley, Rihanna, Katie Holmes, Agyness Deyn, Elisha Cuthbert, Victoria Beckham, Ashley Greene, Lauren Holly and others.

Pixie cuts work best on women with thin straight hair. Fine features, such as high cheek bones and large eyes, are accentuated with this hairstyle. Depending on the style, pixies range from as short as a half inch in some places to two or three inches long in others. Pixies are very easy to care for and can be worn casually, or dressed up for special occasions.

1930's Hair Styles - Finger wave

Vintage Hair Styles for Women - 1930's
We comb out the hair and shape it into subtle finger waves.
A finger wave is a method of setting hair into waves (curls) that was popular in the 1920s and 1930s and in the late 1990s in North America and Europe.

The process involves pinching the hair between the fingers and combing the hair in alternating directions to make a wave shape. A lotion was applied to the hair to help it retain its shape.

Twist Hairstyle

A French twist is a common "updo" hair styling technique. It is created by gathering hair in a low ponytail (not secured) and twisting the ponytail upwards until it turns in on itself against the head. It is then secured with pins, clips, sticks or a comb.

French twists are usually worn to proms and weddings when they are in a tight fashion; however, one could wear a messier, looser look to the office or out on the town. Hair clips are also commonly used with French twists. wiki
